Afghan Crisis: Taliban Announces ‘Amnesty’ After Seizing Kabul, Urges Women To Join Govt


<p><strong>New Delhi: </strong>The Taliban, which has seized control of Afghan capital Kabul, on Tuesday declared an &ldquo;amnesty&rdquo; across the country and urged the women to join its government.</p> <p>Enamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban&rsquo;s cultural commission, said the &ldquo;Islamic Emirate doesn&rsquo;t want women to be victims&rdquo;, adding &ldquo;they should be in government structure according to Shariah law&rdquo;, The Associated Press reported.</p> <p>&ldquo;The structure of government is not fully clear, but based on experience, there should be a fully Islamic leadership and all sides should join,&rdquo; Samangani said.</p> <p>This comes as tens of thousands of people have tried to flee Afghanistan to escape the hardline Islamist rule expected under the Taliban.</p> <p>The women were earlier, during the Taliban rule from 1996-2001, barred from attending school or working outside the home.
