India Will Achieve Target Of 'Net Zero' Carbon Emission By 2070: PM Modi At COP26 Summit


<p><strong>New Delhi:</strong>&nbsp;Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that New Delhi is committed to achieving complete net-zero carbon emission by 2070 and significantly reducing the use of fossil fuel and increasing renewable energy use by 2030.&nbsp;</p> <p>PM Modi during the COP26 Summit being held in Glasgow said India is the only country that is delivering in 'letter and spirit' on Paris Declaration commitments on tackling climate change.</p> <p><strong>READ</strong>:&nbsp;<strong><a href="https://ift.tt/3EEQbiT Modi At COP26 Event: Need To Make Adaptation &lsquo;Main Part Of Our Development Policies&rsquo;</a></strong></p> <p>&ldquo;So far all climate finance promises have been empty ones; developed countries must ensure 1 trillion dollar climate finance at earliest,&rdquo; he added.</p> <p>The Prime Minister said it is need of hour to put pressure on those countries that have failed to deliver on their promises about climate finance, PTI reported.</p> <p>Prime Minister Modi said India will reduce 1 billion tonne of carbon emissions from total projected emissions by 2030.</p> <p>&ldquo;India will reduce carbon intensity by 45 percent,&rdquo; he added addressing the COP26 Summit in Glasgow</p> <p>Prime Minister Modi said the adaptation has not received the kind of importance in global climate debate that mitigation has.</p> <p>He added it is an injustice to those developing nations that are more impacted by climate change.</p> <p>Prime Minister Modi further said, like in India, the climate is a big challenge for agriculture sector for most developing countries.</p> <p><strong>ALSO READ</strong>:<strong><a href="https://ift.tt/3ExZC3s"> COP26 Summit: British PM Boris Johnson Warns Of World Facing 'James Bond' Moment To Save Planet</a></strong></p> <p>He said, from sources of drinking water to affordable housing, all need to be made resilient against climate change.</p> <p>Prime Minister Modi stressed the need to include climate change adaptation policies in school syllabus to make next generation aware of the issues.</p>
