'Glad To See...': US Lawmaker Welcomes Repeal of Farm Laws In India


<p><strong>New Delhi: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">US Congressman Andy Levin has welcomed the Centre&rsquo;s move to repeal the three farm laws in India, reported PTI. In his statement on Friday, Levin said, &ldquo;Glad to see that after more than a year of protests, the three farm bills in India will be repealed.&rdquo;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Congressman took to Twitter to welcome the move. &ldquo;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Glad to see that after more than a year of protests, the three farm bills in India will be repealed. In the upcoming Parliament session starting at the end of this month, we will complete the constitutional process to repeal the three farm laws," said Modi in his address.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Farmers have been protesting at the borders of Delhi against the three laws that were passed by the Parliament on September 27 last year. These three laws were Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Farmers' (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The farmers had also been demanding to implement a new law to guarantee the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the farmers. </span></p>
