Britain: Special Royal Windsor Horse Show To Mark Queen Elizabeth’s 70 Years On Throne


<p><strong>New Delhi: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in the history of Britain, will mark her 70th anniversary on the throne in 2022, and the United Kingdom is planning celerations throughout the year.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As part of the platinum jubilee celebration, the 2022 Royal Windsor Horse Show will have hundreds of horses and 1,000 performers in a special display from May 12-15, news agency Reuters reported.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It will be a 90-minute military, musical and equestrian show held over the four days on the grounds of Windsor Castle, and will end with a live-broadcast finale before the Queen, a known horse lover.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The event, &lsquo;Platinum Jubilee Celebration: A Gallop Through History&rsquo;, will also involve more than 10 countries the queen has toured on state visits, the report said.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tickets for the show are on sale from Wednesday.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"We are going to be telling a story not just of the Queen and her 70 years, but the whole history from Queen Elizabeth, the first era to now," Simon Brooks-Ward, director and producer of Platinum Jubilee Celebration, said in an interview at Buckingham Palace during a media launch on Tuesday, according to the Reuters report.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Over 500 horses and a thousand actors, artists and others will take part in &ldquo;dancing, music and displays&rdquo;, he said.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Proceeds from the Windsor Castle celebration will go to charity.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Elizabeth ascended the throne on February 6, 1952, after the death of King George VI, her father.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Other celebrations across the UK next year will include a special weekend of events in June, the report said.</span></p>
