What is the reaction of the teachers union?
Teachers' union officials in Lahore have objected to the inclusion of teachers in the teams. Speaking to BBC, Secretary General Central Punjab Teachers Union Kashif Shehzad Chaudhry said that safety equipment was not provided to the teachers on duty.
"It is cruel to impose the duty of teachers to check the SOPs of mosques without any security measures," he said. Teachers were not given any masks or safety kits. He also said that this is not the job of teachers. Why don't the concerned departments do their work themselves?
He said that he demanded from the government to abolish the 'unnecessary' duties of teachers. According to Kashif Shehzad Chaudhry, the teachers on duty were not being paid for their extra work.
