On March 27, the family of 74-year-old Elba Marruri received word of his death and was called to the morgue to identify his body. However, they were kept away from the body due to the risk of the virus.
According to his nephew Jamie Morla, he found the body of his aunt from such a distance and after identification, the body was cremated and sent to his family.
However, when Marruri regained consciousness after being in a coma for about a month at the hospital on Thursday, he asked doctors to dial his sister's number.
A hospital team also went to apologize to his family. According to him, there was so much chaos in the hospital that he did not even realize the mistake.

Missing bodies
Elba Marrori was hospitalized in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil, the city most affected by the corona virus, as authorities struggled to collect the bodies at home.
Anne Selinas and her husband Philadelphia died March 30 from the corona virus.
Speaking to the BBC's Mando service, her family said the bodies were taken away four days after authorities were notified of their loved ones' deaths.
Anne's sister, Bertha, said the bodies were wrapped in plastic as long as they were at home, but she wanted to know what to do after the bodies were taken home.

Dario Figueroa found his mother, Santa Marineta, in a pile of bodies in the morgue.
He told BBC Mando that he had been waiting in the hospital for several days. "Then we all put pressure on the hospital staff."

"Some people entered the morgue wearing gloves and masks and some put plastic bags on their heads," he said. The stench was unbearable. What a horrible sight, so many bodies lying on top of each other in plastic bags.
