An orange haze engulfed the American city of New York on Tuesday which was followed by an air pollution warning by the city mayor Eric Adams. The air quality health advisory has now been extended till midnight Friday, tweeted the mayor as apocalyptic smog continues to smother the financial capital of the US. The advisory states that the wildfires in Canada have deteriorated the air quality in New York. The worst air pollution in the town has forced residents to remain indoors.

While the authorities race against time to tackle the environmental disaster, people took to social media to post videos and photos of the renowned city of New York expressing shock, anger and pain over the climatic catastrophe and some even compared it with Mars.

A Twitter user said, "This is not Mars, this is New York yesterday (7/6/2023) afternoon when thick #smoke from the multiple active #wildfires in #Quebec was advected over the region as a result of the dominant atmospheric circulation."

This is not Mars, this is New York yesterday (7/6/2023) afternoon when thick #smoke from the multiple active #wildfires in #Quebec was advected over the region as a result of the dominant atmospheric circulation.#extreme #fireweather #NewYork pic.twitter.com/i5QRBgm3Df
— Georgios Papavasileiou (@PapavasileiouWX) June 8, 2023

A user who was supposedly taking a flight from New York called it 'Mars'.
